If you can not own a server
(honestly I can't !) the next best option is to share it with
someone or hire a rented place. Here comes the big brothers
or ISP's. So I approached these excellent guy in California
(with the requisite fee, which is OK) and he set aside a section
of their server and called it www.infobanc.com. He then applied
for an IP address for that section of the server and made
me the proud owner of the IP address (for next two years at
least and thereafter unless I default). |

While choosing your server
- Opt for a faster server with adequate back-up support
- Check the minimum server uptime, 100% is the best
- Check the back-end server support for interactive forms,
lists etc. - Do not get distracted by low price
- physical location of the server in US makes it faster
for your US customers to access

How much does that cost ? - Well far far less than owning your own
server. Still - how much ??
The price depends upon the quality of server and kind of payment
plan. You generally pay a fixed annual fee for 10/25/50/100
Mb or more space and pay an additional fee if the number of
visitors in your site exceeds a maximum. Payment also depends
upon the kind of back-up support you need (e.g. database support,
extra e-mails etc.) Generally a price of USD 350 - 600 per
year is standard. |
